QRfarm makes it easy to create, customize and download QR codes directly in your browser. This guide explains how to use the generator and resolve common problems.

Create a QR Code

To create a QR code:

1. Open the QR Generator.
2. Select the type of content you want to encode.
3. Enter the requested information.
4. Customize the appearance if needed.
5. Check the live preview.
6. Download the QR code in your preferred format.
7. Test the downloaded code before publishing or printing it.

No account is required to create or download a QR code.

Choose a QR Code Type

QRfarm supports several types of QR code content:

URL

Create a QR code that opens a website or online resource. Enter the complete destination address and confirm that the link works before distributing the code.

Text

Store plain text directly inside the QR code. The text will be displayed by the scanning application.

Email

Create a QR code that opens the user’s email application with a recipient address, subject and optional message.

Wi-Fi

Create a QR code that helps compatible devices connect to a Wi-Fi network. Enter the network name, password and security type carefully.

Wi-Fi passwords are encoded directly into the QR code and may be visible to anyone who scans it.

Phone

Create a QR code that opens the device’s phone application with a selected number.

Include the international country code when the QR code will be used by people in different countries.

SMS

Create a QR code that opens the messaging application with a recipient number and optional message.

Scanning the code prepares the message but does not send it automatically.

vCard

Create a digital contact card containing details such as a name, organization, telephone number, email address and website.

Dense contact information may produce a more detailed QR pattern. Keep the code sufficiently large and test it on multiple devices.

Location

Create a QR code that opens a map location using latitude and longitude coordinates.

Use decimal coordinates and verify the location before downloading the code.

Customize Your QR Code

QRfarm provides several appearance controls.

Colors

You can change the QR code’s foreground and background colors.

For reliable scanning:

• Use a dark foreground on a light background
• Maintain strong contrast
• Avoid using very similar colors
• Test transparent backgrounds on the final surface
• Check the code in both bright and low-light conditions

A visually attractive QR code is only useful if scanners can read it reliably.

Pattern Style

Choose a style for the individual modules that form the QR code.

More decorative patterns may require a larger printed size. Always test heavily customized designs before using them in production.

Eye Frame and Eye Ball Styles

The three large position markers in a QR code are sometimes called finder patterns or QR eyes.

QRfarm allows you to customize:

• Eye frame shape
• Eye ball shape
• Eye frame color
• Eye ball color

Strong contrast should be maintained between these elements and the background.

Logos and Icons

You can place a built-in brand icon or upload a custom logo in the center of the QR code.

For better results:

• Use a clear, high-quality image
• Prefer a square or compact logo
• Avoid excessive detail
• Keep important artwork away from the image edges
• Test the QR code after adding the logo

QRfarm reserves space around the center logo to help preserve scan reliability, but some combinations of dense content, large logos and decorative patterns may still be difficult to scan.

Borders, Frames and Captions

Borders and frames can make a QR code more noticeable and provide space for a short call to action.

Use concise captions such as:

• Scan me
• View menu
• Open website
• Save contact
• Connect to Wi-Fi

Avoid long captions that make the final design unnecessarily large.

Download Formats

QRfarm supports several export formats.

PNG

PNG is suitable for:

• Websites
• Social media
• Presentations
• Documents
• General image use

PNG files are raster images and may lose sharpness when enlarged significantly.

SVG

SVG is a scalable vector format suitable for:

• Website design
• Professional graphics software
• Large-format printing
• Designs that require resizing

SVG files can be enlarged without reducing the quality of supported vector elements.

PDF

PDF is useful for:

• Print-ready documents
• Sharing with printing services
• Document layouts
• Professional production workflows

Supported QR elements are exported as vector graphics. Uploaded raster logos may remain raster images inside the PDF.

EPS

EPS is intended for compatible professional design and publishing applications.

QR modules, supported frames and captions are exported as vector elements. Uploaded raster logos may remain embedded raster images.

Appearance can vary between EPS-compatible applications, so check the file in your intended design software before production.

Test Before Publishing

Always scan your QR code before downloading, printing or distributing it.

For important projects, test it using:

• More than one phone
• Different scanning applications
• Android and iOS devices where possible
• The final intended print size
• The actual material or surface
• Different lighting conditions
• A reasonable scanning distance

Testing is especially important for QR codes containing vCard information, location data, custom logos, decorative patterns or unusual colors.

My QR Code Does Not Scan

If a QR code cannot be scanned, try the following:

1. Increase the contrast between the foreground and background.
2. Use a lighter background.
3. Reduce the amount of decorative customization.
4. Remove or reduce the center logo.
5. Increase the physical size of the QR code.
6. Preserve clear space around every edge.
7. Avoid stretching or distorting the downloaded file.
8. Check that the code has not been cropped.
9. Test the basic QR style.
10. Try another phone or scanner.

Glossy materials, curved surfaces, screen glare, poor printing and low-resolution images may also reduce scan reliability.

The QR Code Opens the Wrong Content

QRfarm creates static QR codes. The information you enter is stored directly inside the generated code.

If the QR code contains incorrect information, create and distribute a new QR code. The content of an already downloaded static QR code cannot be remotely edited through QRfarm.

For URL codes, confirm that:

• The address is complete
• The domain name is spelled correctly
• The destination page is publicly accessible
• The website uses the expected HTTP or HTTPS address
• There are no unwanted spaces in the URL

Do QR Codes Expire?

Static QR codes generated with QRfarm do not expire solely because they were created using this service.

A QR code may stop working as intended if:

• Its destination website becomes unavailable
• The linked content is moved or deleted
• Contact information changes
• The printed code becomes damaged
• The design is modified in a way that prevents scanning

QRfarm does not control the availability of external websites or services.

Browser and Download Problems

If the generator or download buttons are not working correctly:

1. Refresh the page.
2. Confirm that JavaScript is enabled.
3. Try a current version of Chrome, Edge, Firefox or Safari.
4. Disable browser extensions that may block scripts or downloads.
5. Clear the page cache and reload it.
6. Try a private or incognito window.
7. Check whether your browser blocked the download.
8. Try another supported file format.

If an older download keeps opening, remove the old file and download the QR code again. QRfarm adds unique information to filenames to help distinguish newer exports.

Privacy and Browser Processing

QR code generation and customization are designed to take place directly in your browser.

The content entered into the generator does not need to be sent to the QRfarm server to create the QR code.

Information intentionally submitted through server-based features, such as the Contact form, is handled separately as described in the Privacy Policy.
